From the United States

If you are coming from the states you have several options for travel. You of course have the travel web sites like: Or you can choose to look though separate web sites for airfares, hotels, and car rentals. I have noticed that coming from Seattle Hawaiian Airlines seems to be the cheapest flights available. Please keep in mind that this is spring break time for Hawaii so things will fill up rather quickly. When looking at flights please note you need to be flying into the Kailua-Kona airport. NOT Hilo! Hilo is on the other side of the island, and it is a very long drive to Kona. Remember this is the big island!

I am partial to Hawaiian Airlines direct link. www.hawaiianairlines.com/ I do not like connecting flights very much and since Hawaiian has a hub in Seattle they are more likely to have direct flights into the islands, where as most other carriers would have to go through California. They also seem to be slightly cheaper than most of the other carriers.

Some other links you may be interested in are:www.alaskaair.com www.nwa.com for airline carriers.
Accommodation
Hotels in the area are not going to be very cheap at this time of year. But you have a lot to choose from. I would recommend the Kona Village Resort as one of the best all inclusive resorts on the island. However, unless you have an endless pocketbook you may not be able to afford it. Some other cheaper alternatives may be:
  • Hilton Waikoloa Village www.hiltonwaikoloavillage.com A four star hotel. Very nice also, was debating on getting married here also. A little spendy, but great location and beaches.
  • The Royal Kona Resort www.royalkona.com A three star hotel. A little older, but a great value. Very good location.
  • The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa http://www.sheratonkeauhou.com A four star hotel. Not far from swim able beaches but it is directly on the water. A very nice golf course. The spa is pretty nice I hear too!
  • The Kona Seaside Hotel www.konaseasidehotel.com A two and a half star hotel. It is a cheaper hotel for sure. But if you rent a car it is a great way to save some money.
If several of you are interested in the same hotel we can call and try to get a group rate. So please let us know and we will do our best to help you save some money.

From New Zealand

Oddly, there is only one choice when it comes to travel from New Zealand, and that's www.HouseOfTravel.co.nz. Strange but true.
Don't even bother to look for an alternative, because there are none. :)

In all seriousness, I'm thrilled to recommend Annie Crombie, an Owner / Operator from House of Travel Merivale as our expert travel consultant. Annie has a wealth of knowledge and a huge amount of personal experience, having been to Hawaii many times herself. In fact, she actually featured on a travel segment on TV One Breakfast, on Hawaii!
Click the image below to see her in action. :)
Annie Crombie Video I've given Annie all the important details of the wedding, and Kylie and I both feel that you couldn't do better than to give Annie a call, and book a consultation to let her help you plan your trip. Just mention that you're going for Scotty's wedding, and she'll be sure to look after you.
Annie has also suggested Kelianne Keen as another contact to do bookings with. Annie works beside her so will work with her on all the bookings and join in on the consultation on the days she is in the office.
Annie and Kelianne can both be found at House of Travel Merivale.
One last piece of advice. Don't delay! April is a busy time of year in Hawaii, it's smack in the middle of spring break, and all the best bargains will go quickly.
