Howdy! I am Kristie aka The Bride. I am 28 years old living just out side of the Seattle Washington area and Woo-Hoo…I’m getting married! I think it is every girls dream to have their dream wedding. A big beautiful dress, lots of bridesmaids, beautiful decorations, 100’s of friends and family members, food, dancing and memories and a whole lot of money spent. Well that is not me….at all. Had Scott wanted to elope, I think I would have done it. But lingering in our minds was our family. We knew how much our family would want to be with us to celebrate our happy union. So as we joked those many years ago we decided to get married in Hawaii. We figured our immediate family could all go, but we decided we did not want to limit it just to our direct family. So we figured we would invite everyone. Anyone who could afford to take a nice holiday to Hawaii and wanted to attend our wedding was welcome. We are not expecting a lot of people, but the few that will be there will make it special to us.
The wedding planning is going along well. I really did not want to plan the wedding. I knew I would get really stressed out before the wedding and I tend to get upset when I am stressed out so I wanted to keep everything as simple as possible. So upon browsing through a wedding magazine I saw a simple advertisement for Kona Village Resort. So I did a search on the internet. They had a wedding planner at the resort and offered several prearranged wedding package for set prices. It seemed the answer to my prayers. It offered everything I really wanted in my wedding in a beautiful location. So it is booked and my decisions are simple. What kind of flowers do I want and what flavor do I want my cake. I do not have to contact anyone. If she has a question she gives me a call. So I feel so relieved and I know it is going to be simple and wonderful for everyone.
I have purchased my wedding dress and my veil. It was the first one I tried on. I tried several others on but it always came back to the first one. I do not want to give any details away because I want it to be a surprise. But it is perfect!
I am only going to have one bridesmaid. She will be my maid of honor. Her name is Preeti. I met Scott on her computer and she has been a great friend to me for many years now. She just graduated from Medical School and is immersed in her residency program in San Diego California. I love her to death and I am so excited she is going to make it to Hawaii. The day after the wedding is her birthday so we have a lot to celebrate while we are there!
So for now being a bride is great. I am excited about the wedding and although I miss Scott like crazy, I know it will not be much longer and then we will be together.
